Flow’s Lollapalooza Rundown

by on August 11, 2010

Alright, Lollapalooza 2010 is over, and I have seen some of the best performances I can imagine. Here’s a quick rundown of what I saw.

  1. Wavves (sounds better on CD, much more punk sounding live)
  2. The Walkmen (Hamilton Leithauser sounds great live)
  3. The Big Pink (great show, a lot of fun to dance to)
  4. The New Pornographers (sound great live, very talented)
  5. The Black Keys (best of day 1, extremely energetic performance and a lot of fun)
  6. The Strokes (the crowd made this one fun, Julian Casablancas didn’t really interact with the crowd, as with the rest of the band)

  1. Grizzly Bear (wow they sound amazing live, their floating harmonies are just as gorgeous as they are in the studio)
  2. Spoon (a lot of fun when you know the songs, however not too much energy from the band, only from Britt Daniel)
  3. Phoenix (crazy light show, a lot of fun and they put on a good show)

  1. The Antlers (their songs sound completely different live. much more energetic and fun, great show)
  2. Blitzen Trapper (not too much energy coming from these guys but when “Black River Killer” came on the whole crowd got into it)
  3. Yeasayer (as afro-poppy as these guys sound on record, they sound even more so live: and it makes them great)
  4. MGMT (a ton of fun, as soon as “Kids” came on, Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser dropped their instruments and went into the crowd)
  5. Arcade Fire (wow. just wow. the most energetic performance i’ve ever seen from a band. I would see them again in a heartbeat)

So that’s it, Lolla is over, and now I can go back to normal life and only wait the 362 days until Lolla 2011.
