Panda Bear Set to Release New Album “Near the End of 2010”

by on September 1, 2010

It has been three years since Noah Lennox, aka Panda Bear, has released a solo album. And while following up to the enormously successful Person Pitch may seem like a difficult task, Panda feels up for the challenge. With a new sound and new inspiration, his fourth solo record could turn out to be his best.

According to the Paw Tracks Records website, the record, titled Tomboy is set to be released “near the end of 2010,” with no specific date in place. In traditional Panda style, the songs have been created as singles instead of writing them with an entire album in mind. A couple of these singles can be heard at Pitchfork’s website.

Stylistically, Mr. Lennox is taking a different approach to this album. Instead of the “one dude with a computer” approach, he has been inspired by bands like Nirvana and the White Stripes, claiming that he is now “doing something with a heavy focus on guitar and rhythm…Favoring a darker, more streamlined sound…(Paw Tracks artist page)” This should certainly make for an interesting and exciting album from the artist that never seems to disappoint.

As soon as the date is set for Tomboy‘s release, it will be put on this post. For now, however, we can just sit back, relax, listen to “Tomboy” and “Slow Motion”, the two singles off of the album, in anticipation of Tomboy.
