Clapton’s New Album Almost Here

by on September 4, 2010

In case you haven’t heard, Eric Clapton will be releasing his new album, titled Clapton, on September 27. It is his first release since his collaboration with J.J. Cale in 2006, and it’s looking like it’s going to be a pretty dang good album. You can listen to four songs off of the album here.

From these first four songs, you can clearly hear how Clapton is sticking to his roots. “Run Back to Your Side” is a pretty straightforward blues-rock, and follows a similar formula to his other hit songs. It is also fun to hear how Clapton is focusing on the slower, jazzier tunes (“Autumn Leaves”). While the guitar playing sounds as good as always, Clapton’s voice hasn’t changed a considerable amount. Yes, his age is obvious by listening to these tracks, but he still sounds great.

To make it quick, we can’t wait for Clapton’s new album. It should stand up to his other albums and no doubt will be very good. Only less than a month to wait!
