Legacy Recordings and Experience Hendrix LLC have been quite busy recently. Forty years after the death of guitar virtuoso Jimi Hendrix, they have been digging up unreleased recordings and rare tracks by this musical visionary. The first batch of tracks culminated in Valleys of Neptune, released earlier this year. Containing both new material as well as unreleased takes of classic songs, Valleys was a hit among Hendrix enthusiasts and fans alike.  Now, Hendrix fans can once again rejoice, as a collection of over four hours of unreleased material, titled West Coast Seattle Boy: The Jimi Hendrix Anthology, is due out on November 16.

According the Jimi Hendrix website, the upcoming release will be a “definitite career-spanning four CD box set which tracks Hendrix’s remarkable journey from R&B sideman to international stardom.” West Coast Seattle Boy will contain unreleased recordings with the Jimi Hendrix Experience, demos, rare and alternate takes, and a documentary. Adam Block, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Legacy Recordings stated, “The soul and spirit [of] Jimi Hendrix’s music is truly universal, reaching across time with its eternal vitality, power and beauty (jimihendrix.com).” Truer words about the music of Hendrix have never been said, and as long as these companies keep digging up unreleased tracks, we will buy them.
