The last time hard-rockers Muse played Lollapalooza was when they headlined the festival back in 2007. Since then, they have released a very successful album, The Resistance, as well as touring virtually non-stop. And so even though the lineup for Lollapalooza 2011 isn’t even close to being announced, a pretty big rumor has surfaced.

In a recent interview in Kerrang! Magazine, Muse confessed that 2011 will be about working on their next studio album, one that will certainly be very highly anticipated. They stated that this album will be “more like the first album…more emotional and more personal.”

In addition, the article noted that Muse has been offered a headlining slot at Lollapalooza next year. Muse has not said whether they will definitely be at Lollapalooza next year, and until then we can only hope until the lineup is officially released in April. As for now however, Muse is embarking on a fall tour of the US and Canada.

In case you are not familiar with Muse’s live shows, here is a quick video from their 2007 performance at Wembley Stadium, on their CD/DVD HAARP. Now do you see why we’re so excited?
